Kurukshetra Court Recruitment 2024 (eCourts.gov.in) New Notification

Kurukshetra, with its profound historical and religious significance, is revered across the nation for its sacred association. This is the site where the epic battle of Mahabharata took place, and Lord Krishna imparted his philosophy of “KARMA” to Arjuna at Jyotisar. Described as DHARAMKSHETRA, meaning the field of righteousness, in the very first verse of the Bhagwat Gita, Kurukshetra derives its name from King Kuru, the ancestor of both the Kauravas and Pandavas.

Established as a Revenue District in 1973, Kurukshetra saw the inception of two Courts of Sub Judge Ist Class in 1976, followed by the establishment of Courts of Additional District and Sessions Judge, Senior Sub Judge, and Chief Judicial Magistrate. The Kurukshetra Sessions Division was formed in 1983, carved out of the Karnal Sessions Division as per notification No. 231 Gaz. II (7)/XXI.A.5 dated 6.6.1983 by the Hon’ble Punjab & Haryana High Court, Chandigarh. Shri R.K. Nehru assumed the position of the first District and Sessions Judge on 15.6.1983.

In 2005, through Hon’ble High Court’s Notification No. 162 Gaz.II/XXI.A.5 dated 7.5.2005, Kaithal District was separated from Kurukshetra Sessions Division, forming a distinct Sessions Division. Presently, Kurukshetra Sessions Division comprises two sub-divisions – Pehowa and Shahabad.

Pehowa Sub Division, located 27 km west of Thanesar, is an ancient city of utmost sanctity. Recognized as a place where prayers and “Pind Daan” to the ancestors provide “Moksha” or liberation from the cycle of birth and death, the court of Additional Senior Sub Judge-cum-Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate was established here on 10.12.1990.

Shahabad sub-division, located 25 km north of Kurukshetra, is home to the Gram Nyayalaya, which began its functioning on 18.4.2010. The initiative aims to provide citizens with easy access to justice at their doorstep. The Regular Court at Shahabad started its operations on 30.4.2016 as per endorsement no. 380/Gaj.I/V.I.M.46 dated 12.04.2016.
